Velo 24

Back

If you are looking for a challenge that is more intense than previously undertaken or you just don’t have time to cycle for 3 days, maybe the Velo 24-hour challenge is ideal.

Velo24 occurs simultaneously with the Velo Challenge, with competitors arriving in Paris at the same time on the 22 September.

Same challenge, same destination, one third of the time – push your limits even further, with Velo24.

ITINERARY

Day 1 - Friday 21st September - London to Newhaven (62 miles)

Negotiating the streets of London is predictably stop/start, so enjoy the iconic sights of the capital as you cross the Thames and make your way out of the city.
Once out of the city you will find yourself on quieter roads and surrounded by more greenery – enjoying cycling as it should be. On our suggested route, you will pass through Croydon, Caterham, East Grinstead and Lewes. This cycle will take approximately just under 6 hours.
You should arrive at Newhaven Ferry in time for 9.30pm boarding. The ferry will leave at 11pm and arrives at Dieppe, France at 4am local time. Remember France is one hour ahead.

Day 2 - Saturday 22rd September - Dieppe to Paris (106 miles)

After grabbing a few hours’ sleep, (nobody said this would be an easy challenge) you will begin the second leg of your 24-hour challenge. It will still be dark when you arrive in France but the beginning of the route, via Avenue Verte, will ease you in with flat roads to start.
As you cycle along you will begin to see sunrise over the horizon as France begins to awaken – this will be an unforgettable experience
The second day is a long cycle so we will have pit stops along the route for well deserved and needed refuelling as you pass through Gourney-en-Bray, Gisors and Cergy.
All hard work will all become worthwhile as soon as you see the iconic and breath-taking Eiffel Tower knowing that at the finish line will be the Springboard Team ready to greet you with a champagne reception. Velo 24 and Team Velo will both finish together.

Day 3 - Sunday 23rd September - Paris

Once in Paris, cyclists are free to spend their time as they like. Many people choose to stay on while others book their own travel back to London.
The Springboard Team will transport all bikes back to their Head Office in Southwark and will hold them there from Sunday evening until cyclists are ready to pick them up.
